Casey Jones (Year 9) , who is a keen environmentalist, has spent his spare time over the last 6 months collecting litter from Cardiff Bay Barrage and the surrounding area. Casey has voluntarily gone down to the barrage with staff and has collected more than 20 bags of rubbish and plastic.
In recognition of his efforts, Casey was invited by Cardiff Harbour Authority to visit Cardiff Bay Barrage on Thursday 7th June. As well as getting to visit the barrage control centre he was treated to a tour of the Volvo Ocean Race event.
At the Barrage, Casey visited the bridge control centre and even completed Cardiff Harbour Authority’s Bascule Bridge Operation Training. Casey was presented with a certificate for his training and awarded a bag of prizes, which included two passes to Cardiff International White Water.
We are extremely proud of Casey and his efforts to improve the environment and we would like to thank Cardiff Harbour Authority for recognising his hard work and organising such a fantastic day for Casey.
Keep up the good work Casey!
