Residential Provision

Homely residential facilities:

Our comfortable residential houses are a home-from-home.  They are designed to give our young people the space they need to relax with peers, spend their time alone and be provided with the opportunities to learn everyday practical skills.  Each young person has their own personalised bedroom, with space to do homework.  In addition, there are modern dining rooms, kitchens, laundry areas and living rooms.

Accommodation organisation:

There are three residential houses, two within the school grounds and one a short walk away in the community. The residential team is organised so that four to five members are on duty during the mornings and afternoons/evenings for up to six young people, and two members sleep over during the night.

A committed and caring team:

Our committed and professional residential staff work hard to ensure that the children and young people receive as many of the experiences normally associated with a caring and loving home as possible.  Staff are on hand to assist with homework and to help prepare our young people for independent living.

Transition planning:

The school works in partnership with students, family or carers, career services and affiliated agencies to assist with the transition to independence.  Through of individual and group programmes of formal education, group care, social skills, work experience and leisure pursuits, we seek to prepare students for life after school.  In addition, training in relation to job seeking and adults’ obligations are all part of the school’s approach to helping students to develop into mature, confident and self-assured individuals.
