Position: Cleaner

Location: Penarth

Hours: Permanent, part time (working 25 hours a week) 3pm-8pm

Salary: £17,750 per year (£12,026 pro rata)

Headlands School is a residential special school based in Penarth, which caters for pupils between the ages of 7 and 19, who have an emotional, social and behavioural difficulties and a range of associated needs.

Our vision is that every child and young person in the country has a safe and happy childhood. To help us achieve this, the role will:

Ensuring that premises or allocated work areas are cleaned to the service standard, leading to a clean, safe, secure and healthy workplace or service area.

  • Clean premises, work and service areas, as detailed in the cleaning schedule ensuring completion within the set timescale and to the required standard.
  • Ensure duties such as cleaning, washing, sweeping, vacuum cleaning, emptying of litter bins, polishing and dusting are carried out in an efficient and organised manner, following agreed procedures to minimise personal risk.
  • Utilise cleaning equipment, chemicals and apply as trained and required through usage instructions, ensuring the Health & Safety aspects are duly adhered to and report any damaged or faulty equipment, tools or materials to the Lead Operative or assigned Manager.
  • Record completion of tasks or other matters, ensuring issues of risk or concern are brought to the attention of the lead operative or manager.
  • Maintain a stock of supplies as necessary to complete work tasks and provide early warning of depletion of stocks to management.
  • Responsible for the safe use and storage of cleaning materials, in line with COSHH and Health & Safety at Work Regulations and to comply with Action for Children policies and procedures.
  • Familiarise and apply Action for Children policies, processes and procedures utilising training to perform allocated tasks and to Work flexibly as part of a team, assisting in other areas when required.
  • Responsible for opening and closing premises, ensuring that doors, windows and other areas of entry and exit are secured before and after completion of work, including setting of alarms etc.
  • Handling infectious chemical waste once training has been provided.

You’ll be working 52 weeks per year, 5 Hours per day. Contract either 3pm – 8pm.

  • Cyfrifol am ddefnyddio a storio deunyddiau glanhau’n ddiogel, yn unol â COSHH a Rheoliadau Iechyd a Diogelwch yn y Gweithle a chydymffurfio â pholisïau a gweithdrefnau Gweithredu dros Blant.
  • Ymgyfarwyddo a gweithredu polisïau, prosesau a gweithdrefnau Gweithredu dros Blant gan ddefnyddio hyfforddiant i berfformio tasgau a roddir ac i weithio’n hyblyg fel rhan o dîm, gan gynorthwyo mewn meysydd eraill pan y bo angen.
  • Cyfrifol am agor a chau adeiladau, gan sicrhau bod drysau, ffenestri ac ardaloedd mynediad a gadael eraill wedi’u cloi cyn ac ar ôl cwblhau gwaith, gan gynnwys gosod larymau ayyb.
  • Trin gwastraff cemegol heintus unwaith y rhoddwyd hyfforddiant.
